Cyrus Mody appointed Full Professor at FASoS

As of 1 August 2015 Cyrus Mody will be appointed Full Professor in the History of Science, Technology, and Innovation. He will also join the Maastricht University Science, Technology and Society Studies (MUSTS) research cluster.

Mody’s research focuses on very recent history and sociology of the physical and engineering sciences, with particular attention to the commercialization of academic research, university-industry-government cooperation, and emerging technologies such as nanotechnology. He is the author of Instrumental Community: Probe Microscopy and the Path to Nanotechnology (MIT Press, 2011) and a forthcoming monograph, The Long Arm of Moore’s Law: Microelectronics and American Science.

Mody comes to Maastricht University from Rice University, Houston, and before that the Chemical Heritage Foundation, Philadelphia. He has a Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies from Cornell University and a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical and materials engineering from Harvard University.
